Packing mode is in the Local Pass Business app, on a phone or tablet. It fills the screen, uses big buttons, and keeps the screen on while you pack. You go through three steps: Collect everything, Pack order by order, then Check the amounts. It works for a day of wholesale orders and for a pre-order. The business portal has pack lists for both, but not packing mode.

Step by step: pack a day’s orders

1

Open packing mode

For wholesale, tap Order sheets, then the Pack list tab, pick the day and tap Start packing. For a pre-order, choose Packing mode in its ⋯ menu. Packing mode fills the screen on the Collect step.
2

Collect

Walk the cooler and shelves with the list. Tap each line as it goes in your crate: it’s struck through and moves to the bottom of its group. When everything is collected, tap Start packing.
3

Pack each order

Each card is one account or order, with a big STOP or PICKUP badge. Tap each line as it goes in the box, or tap Mark all packed. A packed card folds to a green row and the next one comes up. When every order is packed, tap Check amounts.
4

Weigh

For an item sold by weight, tap the scale on its line. Type the weight on the keypad, or tap Same as ordered, then Save. A line under the number shows how far it is from what was ordered. For something you’re short of, tap ⋯ and enter how many went in, or tap Mark missing.
5

Check

Each order lists anything off: short, over, missing, more than 10% off, or no weight. Fix what’s wrong, then tap Amounts checked on each order, or All amounts checked. Tap Done. You see, for example, “Packing done: 4 orders checked.”
6

Send the invoice (wholesale)

When you send the invoice for a wholesale order from the app, what you packed is already filled in. Lines say From packing (ordered n). Check them, change any that are wrong, then press Send invoice. Nothing is sent before that. See packed amounts on the invoice.
For a pre-order, weights go in the customer’s Final weights, because they set the customer’s bill. See Customers and payments.

Open it

  • Wholesale: in the menu, tap Order sheets, then the Pack list tab. Pick the day, then tap Start packing on the Packing mode card.
  • Pre-orders: open the pre-order and choose Packing mode in the ⋯ menu, or tap Start packing on its Pack list tab. It isn’t offered on a draft or cancelled pre-order.
The button reads Resume packing once something is ticked, and Open packing mode when everything is packed. The card shows how much is Collected and how many Orders packed. Any filters you set on the Pack list tab carry into packing mode. The top of the screen then says what’s shown, for example “Only: Deliveries”. To leave, tap the × at the top left. Your progress is already saved, so you can pick up where you stopped. If your last change didn’t save, it asks before you leave.

Pick the day (wholesale)

Use the arrows to step through today and the next days with orders, or tap the date to open the calendar (Which day are you packing?). On the calendar:
  • A dark number is a day with orders to pack.
  • An amber number is a past day that isn’t all packed.
  • A green check is a day that’s all packed.
Under the calendar, Days with packing lists each day with its orders, lines and how much is packed.

1. Collect

Everything for the day, added up. Tap a line when it’s in your crate. A collected line is struck through and moves to the bottom of its group.
  • Wholesale: the lines are grouped by Storage (coldest first: Frozen, Cold, Fresh, Room temperature), by Category, or by Your groups. Choose this in the Pack list tab’s Filters, under Group the pick list by.
  • Pre-orders: one group per place (pickup location or delivery zone), with its date.
Each line says how many accounts or orders it’s for. Clear puts every line back to not collected. When everything is collected, tap Start packing.

2. Pack

One card per account (wholesale) or per order (pre-orders). For wholesale, an account’s orders for the same day are on one card. Deliveries come in the order the van gets there when you’ve planned a route; otherwise by name. Pickups come last. Each card has a big badge at the top left: STOP 3 (its stop on the route) or PICKUP, with the order number in large type. Several orders show as “1042 +1”. When the card is packed, the badge turns green with a check. The card also shows the van and stop, the address or pickup place, and order chips with the PO number. An amber box shows anything to watch for: “Not confirmed yet” (wholesale), “Not paid yet” (pre-orders), and the buyer’s notes. Tap a line to tick it. Each line has a button at the right:
  • A scale (Weigh it) for items sold by weight. See Weigh sheet.
  • ⋯ (Short or missing) for everything else, to enter how many went in.
Mark all packed ticks every line on the card. When a card is packed, it folds to a green row and the next one comes into view. Tap the row to open it again. When every order is packed, tap Check amounts.

3. Check

“Everything is packed. Check each order’s amounts before it goes.” Each line shows what was ordered, what went in, and why it might be off: Tap Amounts checked on each order, or All amounts checked for all of them. If lines still look off, it asks before marking them. When every order is checked, tap Done. You see, for example, “Packing done: 4 orders checked.” The Check step stays locked (Not yet) until every order is packed.

Weigh sheet

The sheet opens when you tap the scale, or the first time you tap a weighed line on a wholesale order. It’s called Weigh it (or How many went in? for counted items).
  • It shows what was Ordered in large type.
  • Type the weight on the keypad, or use − and +.
  • Same as ordered fills in the ordered amount.
  • A line under the number shows the difference, for example “0.4 under (8%)”. It turns amber when a weight is more than 10% off.
  • Mark missing saves 0. Clear amount goes back to “as ordered”. Save ticks the line.
  • The line under the keypad says what the amount does. Wholesale: “Fills in the invoice for you to check before sending.” Pre-orders: “For your packing record. It doesn’t change what the customer pays. Final weights go in their details.”
Weighed units include lb, kg, g and oz. For pre-orders, the scale opens the customer’s Final weights, because those weights set the customer’s bill. See Customers and payments.

Filters and order

Tap Filters in packing mode to choose:
  • Sort by: Route stop, Pickup or delivery time (pre-orders), Town, Customer name or Order number. Only the choices that fit are offered.
  • Delivery or pickup, Van or route (or Not on a route), Town, Place, Payment (Paid or Not paid yet), and Hide packed.
These reset each time you open packing mode.

Progress on every device

Ticks, amounts and checks save as you go, and show on every phone or tablet you pack on in the app. Two people can pack the same day at once. If you lose your connection, a tick shows straight away and saves when you’re back online. If one doesn’t save, you see “That tick didn’t save. Check your connection.” The business portal’s pack lists keep their own ticks in the browser. They don’t share ticks with the app.

Wholesale: packed amounts on the invoice

When you send the invoice for a wholesale order from the app, what you packed is filled in: weights, short counts and missing items. You see “Amounts from packing are filled in. Check them, change any that are wrong, then send.” Each line says From packing (ordered n). A line you marked missing says “Missing — removed from the invoice when you confirm” and comes in as 0.
  • The lines stay editable. Change any that are wrong.
  • A line you marked missing comes in as 0, and 0 removes a line from the invoice. Change it if you’re still sending that item.
  • Amounts aren’t filled in once you’ve changed a line yourself, or when the same account has two orders that day with the same product.
  • Nothing is sent until you press Send invoice and confirm.
See Wholesale customers for how invoices work.
