Inbox is an agrifood/store feature — restaurants don’t have it. If you’re a restaurant, customer messaging happens per-order instead, through the chat button on each order’s detail page. Inbox is a standing, cross-order conversation thread with a customer, which restaurants don’t currently get.
Inbox is where customers reach you directly — not tied to a specific order. It’s a two-pane layout: your conversations on the left, the open thread on the right.
Starting from empty
- No conversations at all: “No conversations yet — Customer messages will appear here.”
- A conversation selected on desktop but nothing chosen yet: “Select a conversation — Choose a chat from the list to start messaging.”
- Inside a chat with no messages yet: “No messages yet — Start the conversation with [customer name]. Type @ to mention a product.”
Unread messages
A conversation with something new shows a green dot on the customer’s avatar in your list. Opening the conversation marks it seen automatically.
Tagging a product in a message
Type @ while writing a message to search your products and tag one directly in the conversation — useful for answering “do you have X” with the actual product card rather than typing a description. The tagged product shows inline in the message with its name, image, and price.
Sending a photo
Click the image icon next to the message box to attach a photo — useful for showing a customer exactly what’s in stock right now, or confirming what an order looks like before it ships.
What you can’t do here
There’s no way to close, archive, or delete a conversation — Inbox is a running record with every customer who’s messaged you.
