# Shopping cart

When you add products to your cart in the Local Market, they're held in an **active basket** that stays visible at the bottom of the screen. Here's how it works.

## Adding Your First Item

1. Find a product you want and tap it to open the product page
2. Select any required options (size, variant, etc.)
3. Set the quantity using the **– / +** buttons
4. Tap **Add \[qty] to basket • \$\[price]**

Once an item is added, a green bar will appear at the bottom of the screen showing your current basket total. Tap it at any time to go to the checkout page.

## Adding More Items from the Same Vendor

You can add as many products as you like from the **same vendor**. Each time you add a product, the cart total updates automatically.

The basket bar at the bottom will continue to show your running total.

## Switching to a Different Vendor

The Local Market cart can only hold products from **one vendor at a time**. This is because each vendor handles their own orders, preparation, and delivery.

If you try to add a product from a **different vendor** while you already have items in your cart, the app will ask you:

> *"Would you like to discard your order from the current vendor and start a new order?"*

You'll have two options:

* **CANCEL** — keeps your existing cart and doesn't add the new item
* **DISCARD** — clears your current cart and starts fresh with the new item from the new vendor

  Tapping DISCARD permanently removes all items currently in your cart. This cannot be undone. Make sure you're ready to start fresh before confirming.

## Viewing Your Cart

Tap the green **basket bar** at the bottom of the screen at any time to open your cart summary. From there you can:

* Review everything in your basket
* Adjust quantities
* See your current subtotal
* Proceed to checkout

## Promotions and Buy X Get Y Offers

Some vendors run **Buy X Get Y** promotions. If you add a product to your cart and the vendor has an active promotion that applies to your order, a pop-up will appear automatically showing the promotional offer.

You can review the offer and choose whether to add the promotional product to your basket. If you accept, it will be added at no extra cost (or at the promotional price, depending on the offer).

Promotions are only checked once per cart — if you've already had a promotion applied to your current basket, the check won't run again.

## Checking Out

Once you're happy with your basket, tap the green **basket bar** to go to the checkout page where you'll confirm your delivery or pickup details and complete your order.

    Not in a single order — the cart is limited to one vendor at a time. If you want products from two different vendors, you'll need to place two separate orders.

  <Accordion title="Does my cart save if I close the app?">
    Yes. Your active basket is stored to your account, so it will still be there when you reopen the app.

  <Accordion title="What if I add a product with options but forget to choose one?">
    If a product has required options, the **Add to basket** button will remain greyed out until all required selections are made. You won't be able to add the product without completing them.

  <Accordion title="How do I remove an item from my cart?">
    You can manage quantities and remove items from the cart / checkout page.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I'm not logged in — can I still browse?">
    Yes, you can browse all products without an account. However, you'll need to log in or create a free account before you can add anything to your cart or place an order.
