# Onboarding

# Getting Started: Onboarding

After you create your Local Pass account or sign in for the first time, you will be guided through a short onboarding flow. This helps set up your profile so you can start ordering food delivery and exploring everything else Local Pass has to offer.

## What to Expect

The onboarding flow has five short screens. You can move forward by tapping **Next**, or skip certain steps if you prefer to set things up later.

## Step 1 — Welcome Screen

The first screen greets you with the Local Pass logo and a welcome message.

**If you signed up using a referral code from a friend**, you will see a message like:

> *"\[Friend's name] invited you to experience Local Pass!"*

Along with a note confirming your **3 free deliveries** reward.

Tap **Next** to continue.

  If you were referred by a friend, your free deliveries are automatically added to your account at this step. You do not need to enter a code manually.

## Step 2 — Set Your Default Address

This step lets you set the home address that Local Pass will use by default for deliveries.

1. Tap **Select Location**.
2. A location search box will appear. Start typing your home address.
3. Select the correct address from the suggestions.
4. Once a location is selected, the **Next** button becomes active.
5. Tap **Next** to save your address and continue.

  The Next button will remain greyed out until you select a location. You must choose an address from the suggestion list — typing alone is not enough.

You can always update your default address later from your profile settings. See [Updating Your Default Address](./updating-your-address) for more details.

## Step 3 — Ride (Coming Soon)

This screen previews the rides feature, which isn't live yet — it's labelled **"Ride (coming soon)"** on screen. There's nothing to set up or request here; it's just a preview of what's ahead.

Tap **Next** to continue, or tap **Skip** to move ahead without reading this section.

## Step 4 — Learn About Takeout Delivery

This screen introduces the food ordering and delivery feature.

Local Pass lets you order from your favourite local restaurants and have food delivered directly to your door. You can also choose to pick up your order in person.

Tap **Next** to continue, or tap **Skip** if you prefer to explore this later.

## Step 5 — Start Exploring

The final onboarding screen invites you to begin using the app.

Tap **Explore** to go to the Local Pass home screen.

## After Onboarding

Once onboarding is complete, you are ready to use Local Pass. Here are a few things worth doing next:

* **Complete your profile** — Add your name, phone number, and a profile photo. See [Personal Information](./personal-information).
* **Browse local restaurants** — Head to the Eats section from the bottom navigation bar.
* **Check your wallet** — Add a payment method in the Wallet section.

## Skipped Something?

If you skipped setting your address during onboarding, you can set it at any time by going to:

**Settings → Home (under Favourite Locations)**

Or visit your [Personal Information](./personal-information) page and tap **Update Default Address**.
