# Media Gallery

> Upload, organize, crop, and reuse the images and files that power your store.

Your Media Gallery is a shared library for every image and file you upload — instead of picking a new photo every time you set up a product, menu item, or your storefront, you upload once here and reuse it anywhere a photo picker appears.

## Two kinds of files

* **Gallery images** — organized into named categories (folders), meant to be reused across your storefront: product photos, banners, team photos, whatever you like. Your **Main Store Image** (logo/storefront photo) lives here too, in its own category.
* **General files** — anything else: PDFs, spreadsheets, docs. Not organized into categories, just a flat list.

Toggle between **All Files** and **Gallery Only** at the top to switch what you're browsing, and between grid and list view for how it's displayed. Use the search box to find something by filename or category.

## Uploading

Click **Upload** for two options:

* **Upload to Gallery** — you'll pick a category first (or create a new one), then choose your file.
* **Upload General File** — PDFs, docs, spreadsheets, straight in with no category.

<Tip>
  **Images are optimized automatically.** Anything over 1,600px on its longest side or larger than roughly 1MB gets compressed to web quality before it uploads — you don't need to resize anything yourself first. A toast confirms how many images were compressed and how much space it saved.

### Size limits

## Organizing into categories

Categories are just folders for your gallery images. Click **New Folder** to create an empty one without uploading anything yet, or create one on the fly the first time you upload to it. Click a category chip to filter the gallery down to just that folder, or **All** to see everything.

## Managing files

Click any file for **Preview**, **Download**, **Rename**, and (images only) **Crop**. Gallery images also get **Move to…** (change category) and general image files get **Add to Gallery…** (promote a general upload into a gallery category).

  **Renaming doesn't touch the underlying filename** — Storage doesn't support that. It sets a display name only; the original file path is unchanged. This is purely cosmetic for your own browsing, not a way to reorganize URLs.

**Cropping** opens an editor with adjustable handles and five aspect-ratio presets: Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, and 3:4.

## Selecting multiple files

Select more than one file to reveal a bulk action bar:

* **Move to…** — only appears if at least one selected file is a gallery image; if some of your selection isn't eligible, it tells you how many are ("3 of 5 eligible").
* **Add to Gallery…** — only appears if at least one selected file is a general image file.
* If your selection is entirely non-image general files, neither option applies and a note explains why: *"Non-image files can't be added to gallery."*
* **Delete** removes everything selected — there's no undo, so double-check your selection first.
