# Business verification

> Local Pass checks every new business before its dashboard opens. What you see while we check, what to send, and what happens next.

Anyone can create a business account at business.localpass.ca. Before a new business sees its dashboard, Local Pass checks that it's a real business. Until then, you see a "We're verifying your business" screen in place of your dashboard.

> Businesses that were already on Local Pass when verification started don't need to do anything. If you add another location to an account we've already verified, it isn't checked again.

## What you see

After you [sign up](https://localtechnologiesinc.mintlify.site/merchants/create-account/sign-up.md) and set up your store, you see **We're verifying your business**:

> Your account is ready. We check every new business before it sees its dashboard, usually within one business day. This page opens your dashboard by itself once you're verified.

You don't need to refresh. Leave the page open, or come back later and sign in.

## Help us verify faster

The screen has one short form, **Help us verify faster**. Every field is optional:

* **Website or social link**: for example yourbusiness.ca, or your Instagram page.
* **Business phone**
* **Anything else we should know?**: what you sell, how long you've been open, who referred you.

Press **Send details**. You see "Thanks, we have your details." We use the email on your account if we need anything else. To change what you sent, press **Change them**.

## What happens next

* **Verified**: your dashboard opens by itself. You can carry on [setting up your account](https://localtechnologiesinc.mintlify.site/merchants/create-account/account-set-up.md).
* **Not verified yet**: you see **We couldn't verify your business yet**, with the reason. Send us more details with the same form and we'll look again.
