# Account Setup

This is the very first screen you'll see when you open Local Pass and tap **Register as a driver**. Registration takes less than two minutes and happens in two short steps.

## Step 1 — Choose Your Region

Before anything else, Local Pass needs to know where you drive. This links you to the correct dispatch zone so orders from your area are sent to you.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select your province">
    Tap the **Select your province** dropdown. A searchable list of Canadian provinces appears. You can scroll through the list or start typing to filter it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select your city">
    Once you pick a province, a second dropdown labelled **Select your city** appears beneath it. Tap it and choose the city you drive in. Only cities where Local Pass currently operates will appear — if your city isn't listed, Local Pass is not yet available in your area.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap Next">
    The **Next** button remains greyed out until you've selected both a province and a city. Once both are chosen, tap **Next** to continue.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Your region selection determines which dispatch zone you belong to. If you drive across multiple cities, choose the one you start most of your shifts from. You can update your address later in your profile settings.
</Note>

## Step 2 — Enter Your Phone Number

Your phone number is your account identity on Local Pass. It's used to log you in, verify your identity, and send you order alerts.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Type your mobile number">
    Tap the **Phone Number** field and type your Canadian mobile number. The field formats it automatically as you type — it will look like `+1 (604) 555-1234`. You do not need to add spaces or brackets yourself.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read and accept the Terms & Conditions">
    Tap the **Terms & Conditions** link to read the full driver agreement. After reading, either:

    * Tick the checkbox to accept, **or**
    * Tap the **Accept** button inside the Terms sheet

    The **Confirm** button stays greyed out until you've accepted.

    <Tip>
      You can scroll through the full agreement inside the sheet before deciding. See the [Terms & Conditions](/terms-and-conditions) page for a plain-language summary of what you're agreeing to.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap Confirm">
    Once your number is entered and the terms are accepted, tap **Confirm**. Local Pass will check whether this number is already registered.

    * **Number not registered** → an SMS with a 6-digit verification code is sent to your phone and you move to the [OTP screen](/verifying-your-phone).
    * **Number already registered** → you'll see an **Account already exists** message. Go to [Sign In](/signing-in) instead.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Your phone number must start with **+1** (Canada). Numbers from other countries are not supported at this time. If your number doesn't begin with +1, the field will not accept it.
</Warning>

## Switching Languages

Local Pass supports multiple languages. A language selector button is available in the top-right corner of this screen (it shows your current language code, e.g. **EN**). Tap it to choose from the available options. The entire app will switch to your chosen language immediately.

## What Happens Next

After your phone number is verified, Local Pass creates your driver account and takes you to the [Driver Onboarding](/completing-your-driver-profile) wizard where you'll set up your profile, choose your delivery type, enter your personal details, and grant the permissions needed to receive orders.

<Note>
  You only go through registration once. On future visits, simply use the [Sign In](/signing-in) screen.
